Ciate London is best known for their fantastic translucent powder, but that’s far from the only product they offer. They also have a watermelon primer designed to give your skin the dose of hydration it desperately needs. It got a lot of hype when it was first released. Let’s see if this $28 hydrating primer is worth it with a Ciate London Watermelon Burst Hydrating Primer review!

Ciate London Watermelon Burst Hydrating Primer Pros Vs. Cons
Pros
Super Hydrating
Ciate London Watermelon Burst Hydrating Primer is highly hydrating. As you massage it into your skin, the tiny beads in the primer break open, releasing good-for-your-skin ingredients that give you a much-needed dose of hydrating.
Smells Like Watermelon
If you hate watermelon-scented products, this one isn’t for you. Instead, scroll to the posts at the bottom to check out other primers. However, if you love it as I do, you will think this primer is fantastic!
Smooths Skin
As the watermelon extract droplets soothe your skin, it gently smooths your skin for flawless makeup application.
Perfect For Dry Skin
Rich watermelon extract helps nourish the skin while giving it a dose of hydration. Then, Hyaluronic Acid helps create a barrier so that the droplets of watermelon extract keep working all day long.
Cons
Takes Longer To Dry
After using it, you must wait for the pink jelly base to dry. It’s not a huge downfall, but this primer does take longer than my other primers to dry.
Not Suitable For Every Skin Type
Some with sensitive skin have complained that this primer irritates their skin. Others with oily skin have pointed out that the thick texture and dewy glow don’t work well with oily skin. It seems like this one works best for combination or dry skin.
You Have To Rub It In For The Beads To Burst
It’s kind of cool that it has little beads full of juicy goodness. However, it’s mildly inconvenient if you’re already spoiled from other primers.
The Verdict
I wouldn’t use this as a primer. After my little bottle is gone, I won’t be purchasing it again. It’s a basic primer that does an essential job. It doesn’t fill in pores, minimize their appearance, and didn’t do much for my skin other than hydrate it. I’ll use it on no makeup days, but that’s about it.
