Why Do You Need A Heat Protectant?

Heat-protectant products, like this spray from Tresemme, help protect your hair from harsh styling damage. For example, if you’re consistently curling or flat ironing your hair, it can cause severe damage. Flat irons and curling irons let off a lot of heat. Over time, that heat will damage your hair, leaving you with dry hair that breaks off easily.

I used to curl my hair daily. I did not have a single problem when I used this daily too. However, when I ran out and used my super hot curling iron without a heat protectant, my hair started breaking off mere inches from my scalp. I wound up cutting the longer pieces that had yet to break off up to my chin and having to re-grow my hair out. It is important to use these products, especially if you want long, healthy hair.

Tresemme Heat Protectant Spray is one of the most popular heat protectant sprays on the market, and we’re about to find out why. Read on to learn everything you need to know about this popular product.

Tresemme Heat Protectant Ingredients

This spray is also known as Tresemme Heat Thermal spray because that’s what it says on the bottle. The list of ingredients, according to Ulta, is:

Water (Aqua), Glycerin, Amodimethicone, Hydrolyzed Silk, Ascorbic Acid, Panthenol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Biotin, Niacinamide, Sodium Benzoate, Peg-12 Dimethicone, Propylene Glycol, PVP, Fragrance (Parfum), Polysorbate 20, Cetrimonium Chloride, Lactic Acid, Benzophenone-4, Disodium Edta, Cyclopentasiloxane, Triethanolamine

Keep in mind that ingredient lists are updated from time to time. Double-check the package you receive your spray in for an updated list of ingredients.

How To Use Tresemme Thermal Heat

To use it on damp hair, spray it mid – shaft and comb through your hair. Ensure you use the heat protection spray before using a hot hair dryer to protect yourself from heat damage. For dry hair, spray it in the same area, and let it dry.

I spray it on my hair when heat styling because I use my curling iron a little higher than mid-shaft, and I want to ensure it is all protected. After spraying it on my hair, I work it through it with my fingers to ensure it protects every strand.

If you’re not a fan of it being in a spray bottle, you can spray it onto your hands and then work it through your hair.

Tresemme Heat Protectant Pros Vs. Cons

When it comes to this product, there are quite a few positives and downsides. Consider them both when deciding the right way to protect your hair.

Keeps Hair Shiny

One thing that I adore about this product is that it instantly makes your hair look shiny. Other products can further dull your shine if you have dry, dull hair. That’s not the case with this one. You’ll notice a difference that lasts all day long.

Tresemme is a drugstore brand, but they offer products that work. You can help protect your hair from heat damage for an affordable price.

Suitable For Every Hair Type

It doesn’t matter if you have frizzy hair, etc., this product will work for you. You can use it on any hair type and see excellent results.

It Doesn’t Leave Hair Feeling Greasy

I spray a liberal amount of this stuff on my hair, and it never feels or looks greasy afterward! Instead, it’s silky smooth.

Helps Fight Frizz

This is an excellent product if your hair is frizzy or has a severe static issue. It helps fight frizz, making your hair look smooth and sleek all day.

Only Available In A Spray Bottle

This is the one downside to this product. There’s nothing wrong with the spray bottle, but spraying it in your hand and then applying it is a pain. You can’t just spray it on the top of your hair mid-shaft and be done. This is especially true if you have thick hair. You would only protect the strands of hair on the top of your head. Heat-protectant products that are a little thicker and in a squeeze tube are a bit easier to apply if you have long, thick hair.

Final Thoughts

This is honestly a great product, especially for a drugstore brand. It gets the job done, and it does it well. I use it, and I’ve used it on my daughter’s hair. You can pick it up here!
