The website also states that the pressed pigment colors contain an ingredient not approved for use around the eye area in the US, Canada, or Brazil. It doesn’t say which colorant that is, so I had to research.
Some colors are not approved for use around the eye area. The website Just Pigments has a comprehensive article that breaks down every pigment and what it’s approved for.
Violet Voss Essentials 2 Palette Pros Vs. Cons
As with everything, the Violet Voss Essentials 2 Palette has its pros and cons. It’s essential to consider both when deciding whether the palette is right.
Pros
Beautiful Colors
The colors in this palette are simply gorgeous. They are bold and fun, making them perfect if you love eye-catching makeup looks. Add pops of color to your look with brilliant blues, or use the mix of mattes for a soft, glam, smoky eye. Stand out with metallic violet, or enjoy the heavenly blue flecks in this eyeshadow pan. The combination of cool tones and matte chocolate brown defines perfection.
The Colors Complement Each Other
The worst thing is getting an eyeshadow palette and wondering what you can do with it because none of the colors seem to go together. That isn’t the case with this Violet Voss palette. All of the colors can be used together for a beautiful eyeshadow look.
You will have all the essential shades for the perfect balance of neutrals with glamorous shades, such as gold and gold flecks. This Violet Voss Essentials eyeshadow palette truly has the perfect color combinations.
Smooth Application
You can’t help but notice how these eyeshadows glide onto your lids as you play with shimmer orchid and blue-violet colors. They slide across your eyelid almost as smoothly as a cream eyeshadow, even though they are pressed pigments.
Not A Lot Of Fallout
One of my biggest pet peeves, and one of everyone’s, is the fallout issue when working with glitter eyeshadow. No one wants to deal with glitter all over their face to pull off a glam, smoky eye. Thankfully, there isn’t much fallout during the application process with this eyeshadow palette from Violet Voss. Even the blue colors with glitter flecks stay in place!
Cons
Only Some People Prefer These Colors
While I love the bright, bold colors, some people prefer a different color palette. Even if they are beautiful, you need to consider whether you will use them before picking up this palette. If you don’t enjoy the color variety, finding a palette with the eyeshadow color you want is essential. There’s no point in owning an eyeshadow palette that you will never use.
Not A Lot Of Staying Power
While these colors are gorgeous, the formula doesn’t have the staying power I’d like to see in an eyeshadow. It tends to fade instead of lasting from morning until night, even with primer and setting spray.
Colors Are Not As Pigmented As They Appear
The colors look insanely pigmented in the palette, but they are a bit muted once you put them on. You must apply them generously to achieve the same color shown in the palette. The eyeshadow is highly buildable, allowing you to apply multiple layers. Unfortunately, you must use a lot of eyeshadow to get the same color in the palette.
When I started this article, the heading read, “Violet Voss Essentials 2 Swatches.” The beige didn’t show up, and the other colors, particularly the purples, lacked so much pigment that I just wiped it off. I am not building up that much eyeshadow onto my arm. For a subtle look, this palette would work great. If you want bright, eye-popping shimmers and metallics, you’ll spend some time in front of your vanity.
