Shaving With Sugar Scrub

There are plenty of articles online that tell you all about shaving with sugar scrub. They provide a detailed explanation as to why you should use your sugar scrub before or after shaving. However, you’re doing it wrong. Instead, you should be literally shaving with sugar scrub.

Shaving With Sugar Scrub

When shaving with sugar scrub, use the sugar scrub to exfoliate your legs. Rub it into the skin to smooth your legs and help you get a closer shave. Then, instead of rinsing it off, use it as shaving cream. This provides an unbelievably close shave while making your legs velvety smooth.

Things To Remember When Shaving With Sugar Scrub

Shaving with sugar scrub is a fantastic way to get a velvety smooth shave that lasts. However, there are a few things to keep in mind. You can’t use just any sugar scrub as shaving scream.

Don’t Use A Sugar Scrub With Seeds

The first time I did this, I used my Girlaktic Cranberry Sugar Scrub. It’s packed with cranberry seeds to give you all of the soothing benefits of cranberries while exfoliating your skin. All of those adorable cranberry seeds got stuck in my razor. I had to pick them out with my nails throughout the process of shaving. I wouldn’t recommend it.

You Can Use Almost Any Sugar Scrub

After that, I tried the same method with an apricot-scented sugar scrub I picked up at Walmart. It still made my legs softer than an average shave, and it took longer for the hair to grow. This was a basic sugar scrub with zero special ingredients. That means that you can probably use a sugar scrub that you already have or make your own!

Honey Sugar Scrub Was The Best

All three sugar scrubs provided a closer shave, but a honey sugar scrub made my legs significantly softer than the other two. I used a honey scrub from Victoria’s Secret, but you can use this same method with any honey scrub, including a DIY honey scrub.

It works better than other sugar scrubs because honey has natural moisturizing properties that help give your skin a velvety feel. Then, honey helps create a barrier on the skin to lock moisture in and prevent dryness.

Additional Moisturizing Tips

If you want additional moisturizing tips, you can do a few things to prolong the velvety smooth feel of your legs.

Pick Up A New Razor

Ensure that your razor has a little strip at the top to add moisture to your legs. Most women’s razors are designed to have this little moisture layer. If your razor doesn’t have that, pick up one that does for extra smoothness.

Use Aftershave Gel

Skintimate aftershave gel is fantastic. It’s cheap, can be found in almost every drugstore, and is amazingly effective! Add a layer of aftershave gel to your legs to help keep your legs satin sheet smooth.

Lotion

Picking up a moisturizing lotion can go a long way to preventing dry, rough skin on your legs. Use it once in the morning and again before bed at night.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is known for its intense moisturizing properties. It works hard to moisturize your skin and provides a protective layer to keep skin hydrated. Coconut oil works in a similar manner to honey. Using the two together creates a killer combination to make your legs smooth and keep them smooth.

Other Types Of Oil

If you’re not a fan of coconut oil or don’t have any, that doesn’t mean you’re out of luck. You can also use:

  • Almond oil
  • Baby oil
  • Jojoba oil
  • Argon oil

If you have a different type of oil that you prefer to use, you can use it at night to keep your legs silky soft.

Exfoliate

Exfoliating your legs before shaving them provides a closer shave and makes them soft. That’s not the only time you should exfoliate your legs! As you do your face, exfoliating them regularly will help remove dead skin cells to keep the legs smooth.

Moisturizing Body Butter Or Cream

Moisturizing body butter and body cream are more effective against dry skin than thinner lotions. Bath and Body Works body cream is a great idea! Jojoba body butter is another great idea!

In Conclusion

Shaving with sugar scrub is the perfect way to make your shave last longer, and to get silky smooth legs. After using sugar scrub as shaving cream, follow the rest of the tips to keep your legs amazingly soft.
