Illamasqua is an excellent brand for specific products. I adore their Hydra Veil primer. Because of that, I was excited to use the Illamasqua Liquid Eyeliner in black. It’s advertised as being smudge-proof. This liquid eyeliner isn’t supposed to run or smear, either. This made it seem like a dream come true. Illamasqua Liquid Eyeliner Pros Vs. Cons

You will instantly love some things about this eyeliner, but there are a few that you definitely will not. You should always consider the positive and negative things about an eyeliner when deciding if it’s right for you. Here’s everything you need to know.
Pros
Easy To Use
The felt tip has a little bit of flexibility to it without having too much. It provides the perfect balance to create a flawless cat eye. This makes it a great eyeliner for beginners.
Smooth Application
When you’re using this eyeliner, you can’t help but notice that it glides on smoothly. It makes wearing liquid eyeliner easy, even if you’re a novice.
Illamasqua Is Cruelty-Free
Illamasqua is one of the genuinely cruelty-free brands. They are certified by PETA. Although they sell their products to mainland China, they only do so online. Products are not tested on animals in China unless sold in stores.
Rich Color
The black in this eyeliner is very pigmented. It’s a harsh, dark black that gives you the look of a boss. You can dim down the black by dusting a little bit of eyeshadow over it, but you can instantly rock a fabulous cat eye without doing that, too.
Cons
It Smudges
This is my biggest problem with this eyeliner. Although it’s advertised as smudge-free, it is not designed to last all day. By midday, my eyeliner was smudged underneath my eyes, creating a raccoon effect. I was at the doctor’s office when I noticed this. That was the first time that I wore this eyeliner.
Determined to ensure it wasn’t due to something else, I wore just the eyeliner at my house. It was, again, smudged by mid-afternoon. (Remember, I apply my makeup at 6-7 in the morning.)
Then, I took my finger and touched my eyelid. The eyeliner smeared right off. I’ve tried this with my Morphe setting spray. I’ve used no setting spray. Eye primer has been used. I used my Urban Decay setting spray, and we all know that stuff works. Nothing has prevented this eyeliner from smudging.
It’s Not Waterproof
One particular day, when I was wearing this eyeliner during my mission to make it work, there was a drizzle. It was not a downpour by any means. My eyeliner started to run.
The eyeliner is not advertised as being waterproof, but I did expect it to hold up a little better than that. Instead, it held up like an off-brand, dollar version of eyeliner. I was disappointed in that.
The Verdict
I wouldn’t buy this one again. If your eyes water, it will run. The slightest movement and it will smudge. I wanted to love this eyeliner, so I tried hard to keep it in place. However, it doesn’t seem like that will happen, so I’ve finally just given up. I know some of their products have rave reviews, and I would be willing to try them, but I won’t be purchasing this one. However, their hydra veil primer is a game changer!
