Most lip injection lip glosses cause a burning and tingling sensation. They instantly make your lips swell to have a plumping effect. While this is the effect that most of us want, it does lead many people to wonder if Too Face Lip Injection is safe.

I’ve personally tried Too Faced Lip Injection, and always seem to have a trial sized tube on my vanity. I’ve used it countless times, and am still here. Nothing bad has ever happened to my lips, and there have been no long term effects.
However, that doesn’t always mean it’s safe. We all have different reactions to different ingredients. There is one particular website that analyzes the ingredients of products and determines whether they are safe for specific areas. Ironically, this product is not deemed safe for the lips. You can check out what their full report says here.
On the Celiac side of things, this product is supposed to be gluten free according to Sephora.
Too Faced Lip Injection Ingredients
The ingredients in Too Faced Lip Injection are what make it work. They help give your lips a little plump. What exactly are the ingredients in these tiny tubes, though? Here’s the full ingredient list from Sephora:
Mineral Oil/Paraffinum Liquidum/ Huile minérale, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil/Persea Gratissima Oil, Silica, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil/Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil, Fragrance, Tocopheryl Acetate, Pentaerythrityl Tetraisostearate, Benzyl Nicotinate, Tribehenin, Tin Oxide, Butylene/Ethylene/Styrene Copolymer, Ethylene/Propylene/Styrene Copolymer, Sorbitan Isostearate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Butylene Glycol, Pentylene Glycol, Sodium Chondroitin Sulfate, Capsicum Frutescens Resin, Atelocollagen, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil/Glycine Soja Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Benzyl Benzoate, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891)
How Does Too Faced Lip Injection Work
To understand how Too Faced Lip Injection works, you just have to check out the ingredient list. You’ll see the ingredient Capsicum Frutescens Resin. This is also called Capsicum Oleoresin on other ingredient lists.
When you eat a hot pepper, this is the ingredient that makes it burn and tingle, similar to what you feel when you swipe a little of this lip gloss across your lips. It makes the blood rush to the lips, irritates them, and makes them swell slightly. That’s why they look plumper than before.
This also explains why there are such varied results. Some people are more sensitive to this ingredient than other people. One person may have seriously plumper lips while another will barely notice a difference. Likewise, some people say it burnt too bad to use and others say they barely felt a tingle. We all have different tolerance to hot peppers, so we all have different reactions and get different levels of swelling from the product.
How Long Does Too Faced Lip Injection Last
Results do tend to vary with this product. Some claim that it only lasted for 15 minutes. Others claim that it lasted for three hours. Personally, it lasts for 1-2 hours. You can reapply it throughout the day, though.
