Can You Use Blush As Eyeshadow

Yes, you can use blush as eyeshadow. I’m an Ipsy subscriber and do occasionally get colors that simply are not flattering on my cheeks. Occasionally, I also wind up with a palette that a color or two I won’t use as it’s intended. I don’t like to waste things, so this was a great idea for me.

What You Need To Know About Using Blush As Eyeshadow

While you can use blush as eyeshadow, there are a few things that you’ll need to keep in mind. Make sure that you carefully consider these things before wearing that beautiful coral blush as your new eyeshadow.

Blush As Eyeshadow Is More Likely To Cause Irritation

Eyeshadow is specially formulated to be used around the eyes. The skin around the eye is much more delicate than the rest of the skin on the face. Because of that, it’s more likely to become irritated.

Blush is not formulated the same way because it is intended to be used on the cheeks. You might notice more irritation on or around your eyes when you swipe a bit of blush across your lids.

Blush Can Stain Your Skin

I haven’t had this happen with a lot of powder blushes, but it does happen. You wipe off your makeup, and there is still a tint of color on your cheeks. This is especially true with liquid products. Test a sample of your skin, such as your cheek or your arm, to determine if your blush is going to leave a stain.

How To Use Blush As Eyeshadow

Using blush as eyeshadow works just like applying any other eyeshadow. Make sure that you follow the process carefully, though. There are a few more things you need to keep in mind.

Use An Eye Primer

When using blush as eyeshadow, make sure that you prime your lids first. Because blush can stain skin, you want an extra barrier between the delicate skin of your lid and the blush. This can prevent staining.

Test A Small Patch For Irritation

Before dusting your favorite blush across both of your lids, put a small amount on one eyelid. (Make sure you do this when you’re not planning on leaving the house.) This will tell you whether using blush as eyeshadow will irritate your eyes. If you notice irritation, do not use the blush as eyeshadow.

Apply As You Would Eyeshadow

Irritation is going to be your main concern when using blush as eyeshadow. That means that if there is no irritation, you’re good to go! You can use it as a single eyeshadow look or combine your blush with eyeshadow for a unique look on your lids. Simply apply your blush as you would eyeshadow, and rock your new look.

In Conclusion

Yes, you can use your blush as an eyeshadow. Make sure that you use a primer. Then, test a small patch to make sure that it does not cause irritation. After that, simply enjoy your new look!
